Ethel Mary Collocott was born on the 27th June 1900 in Holsworthy, Devon. Her Father was a farmer and her mother a Midwife. She had 3 brothers, Richard, John, Frederick and 2 sisters, Sarah and Francis.
At the age of 18 she moved up to Birmingham to live with her sister Sarah and got a job in the warehouse at Kynocks in Perry Barr. Ethel loved dancing and Ethel and her friend were the first to wear Charleston dresses at the Albert Hall Ballroom in Witton Road. Whilst working at Kynocks she met her future husband, Henry Moore.
They were married on the 8th September, 1928 and moved in to 1/172 Guildford Street, Lozells and then later to No. 2 Furnace Lance where Henry had grown up. When she was aged 30 she had a daughter named Grace and then 3 years later a son, John.
Ethel and Henry lived in Furnace Lane until some time in the 1970’s when they moved to Shard End where she lived until she was 94.
Ethel passed away in the Heartlands Hospital in 1994.
