British subject born in the USA in 1894 Volunteered to join the Territorial Force in 1913. Operating in France as a driver/stretcher bearer he rescued many injured soldiers in the battlefield zone.
Injured in the line of duty by an exploding H. G. shell on the 6th October 1917 in the Ypres Sector. Returned to Birmingham when the war ended and became a very successful business man.

My uncle Arthur had the ability to capture the imagination of a school boy. I am proud of what my uncle and other soldiers did in our time of need.
